Thanks, David. I appreciate your full answer and those of others.

I've decided to look through the catalogue and, if I find enough books I really
want to read and don't see them available any other way then I'll do it and go
the OverDrive route. Otherwise, as I still have lots of reading from other
sources, I won't bother!

Thanks though to everyone. I'll try not to ask any further questions on this.

The situation as I understand it is that most players will treat each mp3
file as a header.
So if I load an RNIB Overdrive book into the Audio Books section of the
Pocket Plextalk or Linio with 9 mp3 files in the book, the device will report
that there are 9 headings and allow navigation by those headings. My Stream is
at the bottomed of my drawer at the moment but from memory you get a similar
result by putting books into the $Otherbooks folder. The
player you are using may also allow other navigation, for example on the
Plextalk you can skip 30 seconds or 10 minutes forward and backwards through
the book, and you can do something similar on the Victor Reader Stream though I
think it is 1 minute, with customizable larger amounts available. On both the
Plextalk and Stream devices you can of course set up multiple bookmarks if you
want to.
I know nothing about 3 minute markers in the mp3 files but I think as I say
you can set a 3 minute jump up on your stream. .

Actually you can convert the RNIB Overdrive books into Daisy Books using the
free PC Daisy Book Generator software, though you get only limited advantages
from doing this. No extra levels of navigation beyond headings based on mp3
files will be available even if you convert to Daisy using this software. The
main advantage of converting to Daisy, on the Plextalk devices at least, is
that you get better time elapsed and time remaining information reported by the
device when in Daisy mode. I cannot remember how the stream manages book
elapsed and time remaining information and whether this differs between Daisy
and Otherbooks categories.

    Hi all,

I'm seeking to get a better understanding of what actually works and what
doesn't. I really love Daisy and am told that, even in Overdrive, certain
things, such as headers, will work. I understand also that RNIB have markers
every three minutes in their books in this library.

Can anyone who is well used to the ease and luxury of Daisy please tell me
any more about the restrictions OverDrive presents when these books are
transferred to the Victor Stream.

Thanks for any input on this one.
