Ironically with IE7 and Vista, it's both easy, and findable.

Copy the URL to the clip board.

Right click on the Desktop, select "New", and then
"Shortcut". Paste or type in the URL and press OK. The next
screen allows you to provide a name which will appear under
the desktop shortcut icon. Click OK and it will appear on
the desk top.

It will come up when you press the first letter of the name
you gave it.

George.

Roger, think the way I'd do it is as follows. (Bit
long-winded, but
don't know of a shorter way.

Go to the page you want to have a desktop link to.
Go to the address field, (F6 should do this).

Copy the link which will be highlighted.

Press windows key plus D to get to the desktop.

Making sure the task bar's not visible, press right context
key and
shoose new, and arrow out and down to new shortcut.

A wizzard should appear. Paste the URL you've copied into
the new
shortcut location field.

Do alt-N for next.

In the new field that appears, Give the short cut a name
that's easy
to recall and find.

Press finish, and you are done.
You won't be able to find the icon by typing the first
letter of the
name you gave it as it's a shortcut. Type S repeatedly to
get to it,
or use your find command.to

Alternatively, (You can also set up a shortcut key in the
properties
box of the shortcut icon you've just created.

I've never reckoned to be good at explaining, so hope this
works for
you.

Cheers,

Hi All

I have a website I visit often and was thinking of setting
up a
desktop icon
to speed up access to it. But nothing I do seems to work. Is
it in
fact
possible to have an icon to a website? If so how is it done
please.

Many thanks

Roger

Some mistakes are too much fun to only make once.
