Hi Phil,
I have an Olympus DS50 and I'm sure this would do what you want. Files are
saved after the last recording in the folder, you can delete individual
messages from the recorder either on the machine itself or on the PC and
there's absolutely no danger of recording over a valuable file. As Graham
said, the menus are spoken so it can be set up without sight.
