Hi, A couple of points I wanted to query: 1. You mention Apple apps and some third party apps are accessible with voiceover. Now if we assume Apple would want the vast majority, if not all apps to be accessible if only so people will use them and continue to buy from them, what do you think of the move now by developers to not go through the Apple Store for ap marketing due to their tightened quality control measures? I've heard from quite a few dev's who've said they are basically going to go open market with their apps and damn the Apple store. Obviously whereas this is good for consumer choice, it'll have a definite impact on accessibility as it is no longer a mandatory criteria for app certification (loosely speaking). 2. Regarding the iPhone 4.0, you might want to look into the iPhone HD which Apple are rumoured to be bringing out in May/June. Also, firmware updates for the current iPhone series. Personally I hope it's sooner rather than later so we can at least get the Jailbreak fix the mods have been sitting on since 3.13 firmware was released. 3. Is there any substance to the rumour that v4 firmware will bring multi-tasking to the whole range of compatible devices? Hi Audrey, The Iphone 3GS series now come with Voice Over, which gives complete access to all of the applications on the phone. From what I have heard, there are many other third party applications which also work with Voice Over. As you are probably aware, the IPhone is a touch screen device, but from my initial exploration, it seems very intuitive once you get the hang of it. Niether of us have one yet, but we're looking into the possibility for the future. Many blind people have switched to the IPhone and are very happy with it by all accounts. The only warning I would give is that like all Apple products, the IPhone is considerably more expensive than your standard cell phone. But the initial cost is nothing compared to the gains that you will be getting from an in-built Screen Reader. If I were you though I would wait for a few more months though as Apple are slated to release IPhone 4.0 in June. I do not know if this is purely a software upgrade or a brand new cell phone. If it is the latter, then the older models may come down in price. Hope this helps TC James, Lyn, Nash & Twinny On 1 Apr 2010, at 11:39, Audrey Tonge wrote: > HI all. > > I am probably way behind here, but wanted to know how accessible I-phones > are these days for totally blind users?
