Hi Alexander,

The process is roughly speaking as follows:

1) You send a message to one Freelists lists.
2) Freelists hold your message in a Queue while they send a short
message back to your ISP which essentially says, "This IP
address/number appears to have come from you, can you please confirm
it's is one of yours".
3) If a confirmation message comes back from your ISP, your message is
released. If not, it's dumped.

In your previous message, it seems pretty obvious that not all BT's
servers have been set up to allow this process.

I don't know if you know anything about the "Ping" function, where you
can Ping an IP address to see if it is active. These can be set up in
such a way that a ping will be refused. It's Reverse DNS Lookup is a
similar process, but very often set to be disallowed by default.

George.

Hi George,

By a DNS Lookup request, are you meaning the message I sent
to the support team, the reply from which I sent to this
list, or are you referring to the research the Internet
Services gentleman said he would do? I ask this, as I'm not
sure which part of the process is the actual request, and
even if I knew I'm sorry to say I couldn't answer the
question you've posed.

Do you want me to ask Bt Broadband support the exact
question you posed, or were you actually asking me?
