Hi Andrew.

Getting confused now hahaha. A list member suggested subscribing to the SKY Newsgroup in order that I may get specific questions concerning SKY Plus answered. I've never really got into Newsgroups, preferring Mailing Lists instead. It's a pity here wasn't such a mailing list available.

Best wishes.

Andy

Hi,

Are you talking about usenet groups or mailing lists? For example, groups such as alt.comp.blind-users, which is a usenet group.

Andrew.

Hi Andrew

You say that I should download a list of the groups and then search through
this. Do the groups not come from a variety of separate sources? Is there
such a thing as a single list of all the available groups? If so, have you
any idea of the url please.

Best wishes.

Andy.

Hi,

Actually the search box in that program (IIRC) is very silly, because of
the way it brings up several matches, all not quite what you want. If
you type in a word, you would quite often get the first newsgroup with
that word in, but not the rest of the m.

A better way is to download a text file of the groups, then search that
way through Notepad.

Andrew.

Hi, Andy,

Ah, I'm with you. If you're using Outlook Express, go to the Help and in
the
Index type "Searching for newsgroups". The instructions are there. I
have an
idea this was a bit easier to find in previous versions of O.E..

From what I've found in the past, it's worth trying and subject, putting

2alt." before it and seeing if it exists - quite often it will.

Hope that helps.

Vince.

Hi Vince.

I've not attempted to subscribe to any newsgroups for some years, and
perhaps not since OE 5. However, when I used to have the folder
titled
Newsgroups, I'd click on this and be presented with a box to type in a

subject like "computing", "blind computing" or disability blind
computing", and this would result with a list of possible newsgroups
for
me to subscribe to. If I no longer have the link, so to speak, how
can I
get a list of group subjects?

Best wishes.

I'm sure you haven't done anything wrong, Andy. I don't have a
Newsgroups
folder either, though I suppose I could create one. The newsgroups
are
simply listed at the bottom of the folder list. Could be better to
make a
folder if you belong to a lot of them.

Hi all.

I was just about to search for a particular Newsgroup and arrowed
town
the folders in Outlook Express, expecting the bottom folder to be
titled
Newsgroups. However, this folder is not shown. I've had a quick
look
through my options, thinking that I may have un-checked a tick-box,
but
cannot find any reference to having this folder shown. Any one any
idea
how to fix this please?

Best wishes.

Andy
