Hi Joe
If it is just a portable AM/FM tranny you are after, then I have found the
Sony ICFP26 which costs £18 normally, but which is on offer for £15 on
Amazon.
Output Power 100 mW
Sony ICF-P26/36
Portable Compact AM/FM Radio
available in vertical & horizontal formats
Integrated AM/FM radio tuner
Built-in hand strap for increased portability
Dedicated headphone socket for personal listening
LED tuning and battery status indicators
P
I've never seen this radio so can't say either way if it is what you are
after.
Kind Regards,
Jackie Brown

Hi Jackie,
I was looking for that radio on Amazon and can't seem to find it. Would you
have any more information regarding the product or do amazon not stock it
anymore, also would you know of a similar product available.
Many Thanks
Joe Bourke

Hi Jackie,
Sounds interesting, I have a Sony manual tune AM/FM portable and that also
gives good sound quality. Just one more question, do you have a model
number please.
Regards
Jim

Hi Jimcan.
Well it is a small square personal radio that fits in your hand. It
comes with a removable belt clip and takes one AAA battery. It is not
a DAB radio, as I said before, but has AM, FM, and something they call
a weather band, though I think this is just a continuation of FM.
All buttons are tactile, and there are individual presets you can use
to store favourite stations, 10 for FM, and five each for AM and the
weather band. Its earphones act as the aerial, but reception, least
on FM, is quite good here.
It costs £26.99 from Amazon.
This radio would be really good for someone who just wants AM or FM on
the move with extremely tactile buttons.
Does that help?
Kind regards,
Jackie Brown

Hi Jackie,
I would like some more info on the Sony radio you mentioned.
Price, size, number of presets, ease of use etc.
Regards

Hi Carol
In answer to your first question, the Roberts Play definitely has
five preset buttons on the radio which, when pressed and held in for
a few seconds, will store your favourite stations. Then you can
press whichever one you have designated for that station to go
directly to it.
As regards size and sound quality, the Play is thicker and slightly
bigger than the Pure Move, but it is still a nice size to put in a
suitcase for travelling. The sound is not bad for a radio with one
mono speaker. It does everything I require.
If you didn't come across it in John Lewis, you can get it direct
from British Wireless for the Blind Fund for I think £60, or from
Roberts themselves.
As an aside to this thread, I have been sent a very basic AM/FM
personal radio made by Sony to review. It is not DAB, but all the
buttons on it are very tactile. I was surprised manufacturers are
still making AM/FM radios, but there you go. If anyone wants more
info, drop me a note off list as I don't want to clutter your
Inboxes.
Kind regards,
Jackie Brown

Hi all,
We have now had chance to look at some DAB radios in Lewis's, albeit
that the first of two guys was pretty clueless and the second not too
much more help. We did however glean that some radios have buttons
to select which preset you want to play, whilst others just select
the presets and you have to work your way through them, until you're
sure you've got the programme you want. Anyway, the second of these
options seemed a little unhelpful to us, so my question is addressed
to those of you who have DAB/FM radios, particularly the Roberts: Do
you have a button that you can set so that it will always take you to
that station, once you have set up the preset?
If you can answer that you do, my furhter questions are concerned
with size of the radio and the quality of speaker. Would you take
the radio you have on holiday, bearing in mind it's size and, in
addition, how do you rate the sound that you're getting?
This will hopefully narrow down our selection.
Finally, apart from Roberts makes, has anyone got any other
make/model they really like that does have individual presets and a
good tone, without being
too big to take away on holiday?
Oh, I particularly liked the Roberts UNO Logic (if that's the correct
spelling). We could not get a definitive answer about the setting up
of individual presets on this model but its tone was good and the zie
just right. If anyone knows it then please give us any information you
mains.
Thanks for bearing with us on this one.

I do hope you're doing OK these days.

Hi Carol,
I have just bought a Roberts DAB radio. it is small and takes six
AAA batteries and it has a power lead so you can plug it into the
mains.if
my wife was hear I could give you the model number, but she is out.
You
can get this model in black or cream, which I am told is a age in
colour.
The controls are quite easy.
From the left side the first button is the on/off. the next
button is the mode, if you press this button and hold it will
change from DAB to FM.
The next button is two buttons one above the other and these are
the volume up/down. then you move across the screen to a nob, if
you tern this to the left you can select channels and if you
press this nob in and hold it for a count of about five it will
search for all channels on that wave band. It also has a plug for
headphones.
Hope this is of some help. David.
