[access-uk] Re: Plextalk Pocket and BBC AudioFactory

I don't pretend to know much about any of this.

But what I do know is that the BBC should not continue to use WMA audio
streams, or any other proprietary format. But they are not likely to
have that view at the forefront of their brains as the page announcing
the 'AudioFactory' thing bleats about the rights of their writers etc.

WMA is ancient technology, but they should pay more attention to who is
going to be impacted by change before it's made.

So, it seems, DRM is again at the forefront of their brains.

I have momentarily solved my Plextalk problems by going to the page that
was originally suggested, mikesradioworld, and putting the streams I
found there.

I did this using Linux to get the .m3u files linked to by each 128kbs
link and putting them in the PlexWebRadio folder of the Plextalk SD
card, again using Linux.

I have no idea whether these are 'shoutcast' streams. I don't even know
what the hell 'shoutcast' is. But for the moment it works.

Ideally I would like to find the .aac stream URLs, then I could make an
internet radio out of one of my Raspberry Pis and stop using the
Plextalk for radio streams.

Unfortunately I live in a swamp at the lowest part of the village and
the DAB signal is next to useless. And DAB is another joke. Coverage
is so poor as to make it useless in large parts of the country.

And I'm hoping that one day somebody living on mainland Europe will be
brave enough to point out that 'listen again' and similar services not
being available over the channel is contrary to Eu law and take them to
court.
