Hi

After selecting "Sapi 5", go to "Synthesiser Language" in the "Language" menu and choose "English (United Kingdom)", then try the Global Voice Settings Dialogue again. But having said all that, I really wouldn't use JAWS to read with a voice like that, I'd use Text Aloud which officially supports the voice. Maybe part of the problem you are experiencing with the trial are because it is a trial, if you know what I mean.

Cheers. I added it under installation maintenance but when I cursor around
in the combobox trying to select the voice Jaws crashes. I've tried four
times now and it keeps happening so I've given up.

Oh,Man, I am not positive on this one. If sapi 5 is not one of the
options in the "change synthesizer " menu, you might have needed to
select "sapi 5" duringn installation or add it by running the
installation maintenance from your start menu. you might want to give
that a try and see if sapi 5 is one of the choices you get for adding
synths. It should then show up in your synth menu.

Cheers,

Doris

Thanks for this. The options I've got in the 'change synthesiser' menu are
remote access speech, Eloquence and SAPI 4 detect... When I enter on that
Jaws says there are no other SAPI supported synthesizers on my system. I'm
running JFW7, which option do I go to for adding SAPI5?...cheers

set jaws to use sapi 5 from the

language/change sytnehsizer menu

then go to options\\voice, global and select your preferred sapi 5
voice, in your case daniel.

Cheers,

Doris
Remember, though, that any of the "natural voices", whether by AT&T,
Scansoft, Neospeech, etc. take up a whole lot more resources than
Eloquence. thus you might find jaws somewhat sluggish when switched
to sapi 5. You probably want to have at least 1 gig of RAM to get
anything out of those voices.

I personally prefer Eloquence - or actually my beloved hardware synth
- with jaws and only use sapi 5 voices for reading or recording text
with something like TextRecorder.
