[access-uk] Re: Smart phones and roaming charges

Oh no not quite correct!

Sold my business in Guildford last July, working part time on the Kent coast
in profession, setting up a business in a completely different sphere, still
dealing in property, and indulging in hobbies deeply for the first time in
many years!

My house is only 22 miles from the nearest part of France - Cap Gris Nez.
The lighthouse from there can be seen from two of the bedrooms. I suspect
that they may have a cell repeater there!

Hello David,

Fortunately I don't pick up any Dutch ones here on the east coast. I see
we're both retired now and men of leisure.

Take care,

Mike

Mike

Very true

Living where I do now, right down on the Kent coast, I sometimes find myself
on a French network!

Hi Andy,

I think roaming charges are extortionate. I keep roaming to a minimum, and
make sure that push data is switched off. We do have to be watchful though,
very easy to be caught out.

Cheers,

Mike

Hi Mike -

I'm with T-Mobile, and if I understand their policy, I think when I open
Safari when abroad, I will be offered the chance to by a T-Mobile booster
[10 quid for 50mg of data] so hopefully that will avoid roaming charges? I
assume I'll still have to keep roaming on for T-Mobile to see where I am in
the world? I never quite understand why the iPhone has a button to turn
on/off mobile data, as well as one for roaming, unless the first is about
being in one's home country, and the second for abroad? -

Andy
