Well Jackie, more than a few would agree with you. So called
'Membership' has always seemed less than a genuine attempt at 'of'
rather than 'for' reality.

Still, I know tfor a fact there are genuine souls who feel membership
and expressing one's opinions and ideas is worth pursuing. (Better
peeing out of the tent, rather than well, peeing into the wind! Much
good it seems to do them, but have to admire the optimism and
persistence of those who do speak out from what, supposedly, is the
indside. Not the place to resorect the old chestnut of who exactly
counts at RNIB, but its my guess that having been to the right school
counts for a lot, and you are the sort of guy or gal who will be on
those committees of which we know nothing.

This is all really disability politics isn't it, although I'd argue
that being able to genuinely influence how our access needs are met is
not off the mark here. It is too how this conversation started in the
context of the Solutionsradio. Maybe we'd have more luck on Vi-gen,
and I know of course Jackie that you are subbed there.

Cheers,

No offence Ray, but RNIB are just full of their own importance in my
view.
Having dealt with them for over 40 years, I have nothing but cynicism
and
contempt for their ideas now. You never even hear about who evaluates
their
gear, let alone what the outcome of it is.

Sorry if that offends anyone else, but it needs saying.

Jackie
