The Soundings Audio Magazine did a review on the ORION Webbox produced by
Solutions Radio.
Get the MP3 file by right clicking on the following link and select the
option to Save Target AS.
The size of the file is 2.8 mb.

I didn't, I am one of the peple trialling it.

There are problems though.

The trial is limited and it does not currently allow the user to control any
content. rather it is just a range of options including Internet Radio,
Talking Books and Newspapers/Magazines. I think I can say this openly
enough as no one from RNIB has asked me to sign any kind of disclosure
agreement.

The idea is that the box automatically links to a server where your content
for download is configured and put into a menu. It has potential and it
could I think be controlled by the user through a web interface or by
ringing someone to do it for you.

Currently there are only about 5 radio stations in the trial and a small
range of magazines and books. Daisy navigation is possible but it is slow.
a command when reading a daisy book takes about 3 seconds before it is acted
on and multiple commands do not work well e.g. press forward 3 times to skip
3 chapters.

Also, the user needs to get a broadband connection set up and pay for this
on a per month basis so if the user does not use a computer anyway it is not
a sheap option though the idea is basically good and the product definitely
has potential. It is definitely worth trialing and working with.

Graham
