Carol I am still waiting for Madalin Mann to come back to me about how much Talks Premium would cost me having talks Standard from Vodafone. that was approximately 10 months ago. Smile. I do not now need her to come back to me as I have Talks Premium but she did not even know that I could purchase it for £50.00. It was a case of me telling her actually and she saying that she would get back to me to confirm this but she did not think so!!!

Well Roger, there you go! Nice to know I'm not alone ...Having just responded off list to a follow-up by RNIB staff member Madleen Mann, I'm wondering where the customer support is these days. After all, we spend an awful lot of money on these items so should be able to ensure they're going to meet our needs, at least pretty well!Should I really have had to spend a whole day in the Resource Centre when all I eventually came away with was one item from the kitchen and a replacement watch? The only other item of interest to me, having looked around the kitchen and chosen a new watch, was the Plextor Pocket and I made that clear pretty well on outset. I was very much hoping to come home with this item also!I don't think so now! -- Carol carol.pearson29@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx -- Carol carol.pearson29@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx ---- Original Message ---- From: "roger south" <roger.south@xxxxxxxxxx> To: <access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Wednesday, June 24, 2009 3:42 PM Subject: [access-uk] Re: TIME FOR A RANT ...Hi Carol You have my sympathy as I've been down that street as well. Several years ago I wanted to buy a portable book reader and the one to have was the Road Runner. I have a severe hearing loss and therefore hear mostly electronically. This made me wary as to whether it would be suitable for me. I phoned the dealer and was told the price etc. I explained my difficulty and fears so would I be able to return it if I needed to. In no circumstances I was told as the machine would be second hand. If it was unsuitable I'd have to find a buyer to purchase it off me. What he didn't realise and was not interested in listening to was that only the actual machine would be used briefly as I would have used my own batteries out of courtesy and I never use head-phones ever as they are of no use to me. My own induction loop would have been plugged in instead. Another list member agreed to meet me and allow me to try his. It transpired I was unable to get on with it and never did purchase one. But the dealer in question, due to his short sightedness and rude behaviour has lost a potential customer for life. I would wait for hell to freeze over before I bought even a box of matches from him in the future. Hi all, I don't exactly apologise for this post and I'll try to keep it brief! I've just written about my recent experience when visiting the RNIB shop at Judd Street for the first time a few weeks back ... (I won't repeat here what I wrote there ...) My quest to get a proper indepth demonstration of the Plextalk Pocket has been exceedingly difficult ... and I've now decided to give it up. Not only was I unable to get anything like a demonstration at the RNIB, but I have declined to purchase the "Infotech" article. This was the last nail in the coffin for me! I was told this would cost me £10 as I'm not a regular subscriber to "Infotech" and you can no longer purchase individual articles at a reasonable rate. I think £10 is too steep and, despite my writing both Brian and Terry at T&T, I heard nothing from them. Well, that's just too bad! It seems my quest for a recorder I'll really like and get on with is just not to be! Surely, it ought to be easier than this to get proper demonstrations and a working knowledge of this high tech stuff for which we have to pay fairly high prices anyway ...
