Thanks, Steve:

OK, so all I need in is the aerial cable from outside and the HDMI cable plugged into the socket nearest the aerial cable. Right?

I'll give that a go later (hopefully this evening) when I have someone else to help me reach the power point so I can start from scratch once again.

Should I still be able to press the blue button before tuning commences in order to get speech on? (If nobody knows a definite answer on this one then I'll just wait and hopefully get it tuned first.)

Hi Carol, smiles. Me too! Pressing the blue button for
me didn't get the speech on either however a couple of
points. If you are connecting your box via the RF ariel
leads then you don't need the HDMI connector. If you
want to use the HDMI connector, then you don't need to
run the ariel cable from the box to the tv. I'd advise
using the HDMI as you'll gain the benefits of auto
switching etc.

Hope that helps

Steve

Subject: [access-uk] TVonics Setup Questions

Hi all,

Well, thankfully my TVonics arrived today and I've tried
setting up as follows:

My aerial cable (from outside) is in the Aerial in
socket, The other aerial socket has the aerial between
box and TV. The HDMI cable between TV and box as stated
in instructions.

It does not state in the instructions whether you need to
tune the box independently first, before putting on the
TV, so we've tried tuning both ways. On each occasion,
we've said OK to tune, since there doesn't seem to be any
other option my friend can see, and the tuning has just
gone on and on ... so we've turned off the power to the
box, given it a good 20 seconds and tried again with TV
on, but still no go!

In addition, when we first switched on, we pressed the
blue button, as speech didn't automatically come on. We
still haven't managed to get speech on as there seems to
be no bypassing the channel search.

Hopefully someone somewhere can pinpoint where we've gone
wrong, advise of anything else I can do, and we can get
up and running very soon.

Thanks for any advice for this poor novice who's never
set up a TV and box before! <Smiles>
