I use one of those with a flat pannel but the buttons are well spaced making it 3 buttons in a row over the width of the pannel. I can set the time ok but easily forget the order the cooking levels go in, but luckily it always defaults to high power which is often what I want. I have nothing to do with the clock, wouldn't have a prayer and that's where a talking one would come in.

Overall yes I can bang in the time in minutes and press start but that's about it.

Jackie, though I haven't one of these talking microwave ovens I tend to think if my sight was to go I'd be tempted. Still, others have decided they can get by with a cheapo model, preferably with a dial or feelable buttons, and simply use a separate timer. What do you think?

Hi Peter

The LG model is discontinued now. I've had our Cobolt microwave for 12 years now, and he's still going strong: "Door open," "Door closed," and all that jazz. (smile)

Because I've used it for that long now, I couldn't imagine having a commercial device.

I hope others can offer you some useful feedback.

Back to a familiar topic but one that I have not seen come up recently. I need to replace an old model which had tactile controls.

I have read the details of the two sold by Cobalt and performed a search with Google. That threw up some results in the States which I am not interested in. However there is one sold by Amazon - the Hamleton Beach Delux (model 87106) for $139.95. Rather cheaper than Cobalts model. I did not find the Lg available anywhere.

Does anybody have any suggestions or recommendations please?

Peter Bentley
