[access-uk] Turning off the screen on a laptop

Hi,
I am after ways of prolonging the battery life on my Toshiba Tekra m3 and
was wondering if there is a way you can turn the screen off completely to
save power this way? if so would this make a difference to how Jaws
performs? If it is possible could someone give detailed instructions. I'm
running jfw 8 with Win xp pro.
I have been into display settings and adjusted the time for when the screen
turns off after inactivity etc but I'm talking about not having the screen
on at all when running it via battery.
