Hi Roger,

Yes I’ve seen them at Maplins – 3 port for about £30.00, but remember
you will have to plug a USB hub into a USB 3 port, so will still need
a USB3 card.

Doubtless there are cheaper ones elsewhere, and I’ve no doubt prices
will come down as they become more popular.

George.

Hi George

I assume there are usb3 hubs out there or I’ll be continually
grovelling to plug in or pull out from the back of the tower. LOL

Many thanks for the info.

Hi Roger,

First, check if the devices using USB3 are backward compatible with
USB2.

However, in an ideal world, if it’s a desktop, and you have a free
expansion slot, the best option is to go for a USB3 expansion card
with 3 or even 4 USB3 ports. They are not arm and a leg money.

Hi All

more and more of the commercial posts I receive are pushing USB 3.0
goods. I’m aware that I need to have some form of conversion on my
computer to use these (well I think I do) but what is it I need? A
simple plug in adaptor or something more complex such as a wired in
unit in my tower? Also is it really necessary to change?

Many thanks

Roger
