Hi George,

My system is a little more difficult than that. I have my system looking
for the CD first, and it comes up with "press any key to boot from the CD".
If you don't, it boots from the hard disk. So you won't appear to have the
lock that you describe, but on my system, it is quite tricky as a blind
person to know when to press a key to boot from the CD. If you are too
quick, it doesn't take, and if you are too slow, you boot from the HD
anyway.

All the best

Steve

sighted help?

You will need to get someone sighted to help you access the BIOS of your PC
such that it looks at the CD first when looking for a bootable device.

You only need to do this once.

The only downside is that if you accidentally leave a CD in your drive and
shut down, your system may appear to hang when you power up later. And of
course there will be no speech to tell you this.

George.
