Hi Madleen

I don't have one, it's a friend who was given one. It's in great working
order, but it doesn't seem to like DAISY books that he puts on it from the RNIB
library, yet it appears to play audio CDs. I just thought that perhaps a
firmware update might rectify it, though of course I could be wrong?

I'll see if I can obtain a serial number and contact RNIB and/or Humanware.

Thanks for your help here.

Hi Jackie,

It sounds like you've got one of the victor classic mashines.
Was that a loaned one from Talking books or did you buy the unit?

Feel free to contact us/human ware to see what we can do to check the firmware.

Best wishes,

Hi Jackie

It may pay you to contact humanware, they will be able to tell you what you've
got, or even the rnib.

Subject: [access-uk] Victor firmware

All,

I would like to help a friend obtain the latest firmware for their Victor. Not
being too familiar with the various models of this device myself, I can only
say it is smaller in size to the Victor Reader Classic with the handle on it,
but has a nomeric keypad on it for navigation, a built-in speaker, and comes
with a soft carry case. But each time my friend puts a DAISY book into the
drawer to play it, the CD seems to go all over the place and won't play. Yet
when an audio CD is inserted with say music or an instruction manual on it in
MP3 format, it works perfectly.

I want to therefore locate the latest firmware release to see if this would
help. I can only find reference to Victor Reader Classic, Vibe, Plus and
Stream. Is it likely then that Victor is one of the older models?

Thanks to anyone who can throw light on this so I can pass on.
