Hi Jeff, Ribbons are the new way Microsoft have decided to go to replace the drop-menus. They are a pain in the proverbial if you don't have the 'use virtual ribbon menus' enabled in JAWS, but tend to operate similar to the drop-down menus when this is enabled. They take a little while to get used to as the commands have been moved around alittle, but once you get use to them they are fine. A sighted person would see something like a ribbon across the top of the screen with all the icons depicting the functions, but even sighted persons find them confusing at first, so no difference there then. John. -----Original Message----- From: access-uk-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:access-uk-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of jeff flint Sent: 18 January 2013 17:40 To: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [access-uk] Re: Word and Outlook Hi I have 2003, can you believe it. I can't find the disks and don't remember the pin. So it looks like a new one. Actually what are ribbons? ----- Original Message ----- From: "John Gregory" <jgm.gregory@xxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Friday, January 18, 2013 4:48 PM Subject: [access-uk] Re: Word and Outlook > Hi Jeff, > > Do you have various versions of Word or Outlook, or are you intending to > purchase?
