Hi John,
Many thanks for this really clear, and I am now not so terrified.

Hi Jeff,

Ribbons are the new way Microsoft have decided to go to replace the
drop-menus. They are a pain in the proverbial if you don't have the 'use
virtual ribbon menus' enabled in JAWS, but tend to operate similar to the
drop-down menus when this is enabled. They take a little while to get used
to as the commands have been moved around alittle, but once you get use to
them they are fine. A sighted person would see something like a ribbon
across the top of the screen with all the icons depicting the functions, but
even sighted persons find them confusing at first, so no difference there
then.

John.

Hi I have 2003, can you believe it.
I can't find the disks and don't remember the pin.
So it looks like a new one.
Actually what are ribbons?

Hi Jeff,

Do you have various versions of Word or Outlook, or are you intending to
purchase? In any event, don't be nervous of ribbons as JAWS works well
with
them, especially 2010. All you have to do is F6 to the ribbon and use
cursor
keys to navigate the options. In some cases the old shortcuts still work
if
you have some favourites.

John.

I have moved to Jaws 14 Professional, not quite sure how.
Still using Windows 7.
Which Versions of Word and Outlook work best?
Am a bit nervous of ribbons, in later versions of Word and Outlook do have
to run them?
Jeff
