[access-uk] Re: for your information: Save 30 per cent on a year's access to RNIB Overdrive

Hi Mike
I don't think Steve was opposed to advertising on list.

Steve did say:

"Companies are not allowed to advertise on this list,
yet end users seem to be able to send adverts from RNIB.
Whatever we say about RNIB being a charity and all that, a sub to
Overdrive having a discount is definitely an advert."

So basically if a member of RNIB staff had posted
the original post, that may have broken the list rules.
But it wasn't RNIB that posted!
So I think Steve's point may be that the no adverts
rule should apply to everyone, and not just a company.
Maybe rule could be based on what the majority of members prefer.

I like to be kept informed so don't have problem with the
advert posts. It's easy to skip whatever doesn't interest.

Regards, Derek

Steve, if you're so opposed to 'advertising' on this list you might
want
to review the contents of your email signature.
