Re synchronising an MP3 spoken word file from your PC to the iPod if you
fall asleep, am I right that there's no synchronise command asuch? Would you
do it by finding where you were up to in the file in iTunes on your PC and
then copying that file to your iPod?

This last week there were two queries relating to bookmarkable MP3 files on
iPod products which I did not have time to answer.

BH It is in the get info dialogue on the summary page. If you read it with
the jaws cursor, it will advise you that the file is protected.
Now Damon was asking what a bookmarkable MP3 actually is.
If you put an MP3 file onto an iPod, stop it in the middle of the file and
switch the iPod off then back on again several hours later, you will still
be in the same place. That's fine if you do not move away from the file.
If you do, and return to it later, your place is lost and it returns to the
start point.
Bookmarkable files retain your place even if you move away from the file
itself. That's the difference. In other words, if you have spoken word
material as MP3 files, and music on the same iPod, it could be worth
bookmarking the spoken word files so that you always keep your place,
exactly the same as audible content in fact.
One more tip. If you are listening to a book and you fall asleep during the
playback (smile), all is not lost!
Assuming the jaws scripts are installed for iTunes, you can navigate to the
correct place within the audible book or MP3 file within iTunes on your
computer, and synchronise the file to the iPod. Then, using the iPod, you
can start the playback again from the chosen position.
