Hi John.

When I plugged my cannon LiDe 210 scanner in to my PC this morning, it downloaded and installed the drivers automatically using Windows Update drivers. Obviously there is utility software that if I wished I could install, but Cannon drivers are readily available directly from Microsoft and are WHQL certified.

All the best, Ibrahim.

Hi John.

It will depend. If your computer is connected to the internet and the
scanner is relatively modern, "kWindows may be able to install the drivers
automatically for you. If you have the installation CD, you can run the
install application which will ask you during setup to plug the scanner in.

All the best, Ibrahim.

Hi all
it's so long since I did this I am not sure how to go on.
if you are installing a scanner on the laptop first do you plug it in
then it then eventually ask for the software to be put on?
thanks.
