Sorry, Ibrahim, but it is a dangerous assumption that "plug and play" will always work. As I have this past week discovered. I purchased a Canon Pixma MX925 which is a low cost ink jet, and not far short of the only ink jet printer I could find which prints direct on to CDs and DVDs. According to the "Quick Start" guide, I just plugged it in and off it went. And accordingly, the last thing shown on the guide was to use the enclosed CD to set it up. Well, as I discovered after a call to Canon, I should really have installed the drivers from their CD first. George. -----Original Message----- From: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Ibrahim Gucukoglu Sent: 24 January 2015 11:03 To: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [access-uk] Re: installing scanner software Hi John. When I plugged my cannon LiDe 210 scanner in to my PC this morning, it downloaded and installed the drivers automatically using Windows Update drivers. Obviously there is utility software that if I wished I could install, but Cannon drivers are readily available directly from Microsoft and are WHQL certified. All the best, Ibrahim. -----Original Message----- From: john gallagher Sent: Friday, January 23, 2015 4:00 PM To: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [access-uk] Re: installing scanner software thanks there well i actually got the drivers from the cannon site as its an lide 630 i think. i do have an old copy of open book 8 and somewhere on my old machine a vallid copy of omnipage open book is working though which is great thanks. ----- Original Message ----- From: Ibrahim Gucukoglu <ibrahimGucukoglu@xxxxxxxx> To: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Date: Friday, 23 January 2015 2.22 pm Subject: [access-uk] Re: installing scanner software > > > Hi John. > > It will depend.
