version 9 certainly works and so does version 8.  you may find there is an 
issue with version 7 and Windows XP sp2.

I think that you will need Kurzweil v. 10 to work with XP;  v. 9 might work
with it too but I am not sure. I suggest you contact Kurzweil to check this;
they might be able to help.
