Cannot help but admire your adaptablility Steve with these very small
devices. Trouble is I have a problem around things becoming smaller than I
think they need to be for practical operation. The now departing Minidisc
was another example of this, although in its case there was never any option
to be able to make the things talk as with Mobiles.

Suppose it is a case of adapting, but if I had the choice, I'd rather not.

: Hi Ray,
:
: I have no difficulty at all with any of the Series 60 phones. Yes, some of
: them are less tactile than others, but none of them are impossible. There
: seems to be this thing about blind people being afraid of small buttons.
Or
: is it me? Personally, the smaller the phone, the better. And yes, I am
: totally blind <Smile>. Just one more thing. A level of confidence is
added
: once the phone speaks all the buttons. The size then becomes less
: important, unless you want to type fast on them, in which case, you may
want
: more tactile buttons.
:
: Personally, and this is nothing to do with phones that I sell, I like the
: 6630, as the buttons dip in the middle row, the 2, the 5 and the 8, and
they
: are quite tactile.
:
: Folks, don't be afraid of small buttons, you soon get used to them, unless
: of course, you have dexterity problems, which is a different ballgame
: altogether, but I feel most of us could handle these phones if we put our
: minds to it.
:
: All the best

:
: A note of discord here, but what's necessarily so good about very small
: phones? Surely this in itself works against good tactile functionality?
:
: Watch out too! I've heard of phones having no keyboard at all. Simply a
: touch screen. How the devil are we to cope with that one?

::a few things andy.
::
:: Firstly go to www.nuance.com/talks and click on the compatible phones
: list.
:: read comments relating to each phone.
::
:: You could always then join the recycle-it list by sending a blank email to
:: recycle-it-subscribe@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx and ask if anyone is selling that
: kind
:: of phone. You may also want to go to a local shop such as carphone
:: warehouse and take a look at any phones you think are suitable before
:: buying. I think the only phone available with a flip (also known as a
: clam
:: shell design) is the Nokia 6260 (appoligies if I have the model number
:: slightly incorrect). This phone is reported to be easy to use and quite
:: tactile but not particularly small. You will probably have to make
:: compromises therefore.

:: Cheers
