You do NOT need to reformat. The following Microsoft
Knowledge Base Article explains how it's done. It is
technical, but that shouldn't worry some people I could
mention! (Smile)

How to restore the system/boot drive letter in Windows

letter

Hi Chris,

Actually, this is going to be a real problem, because some
older programs
look specifically for the C: drive. I think the only answer
is to reformat,
and pay more attention to the drive lettering <Smile>.

All the best

Hi, I guess that so long as the c drive isn't set as the
active primary
partition, you shouldn't have any problems. By "active
primary" I mean that
when you turn on your computer, it tries to boot from the
first available
partition, and of course if there's nothing on there, or
nothing to indicate
that an operating system exists, then it'll just stop dead
and probably
display an error message. Only sighted assistance could get
you out of this
trouble. Hope that helps.
