Hi

Can I just confirm, can the cobalt model completely replace the thermostat/heating and water timer that was fitted with the boiler? I.e. can you adjust the heating temperature?

Also, does it have to be fitted down stairs, as our boiler was installed up stairs.

If it has to be fitted up stairs, then it would be more inconvenient if you want to adjust the temperature I guess, but I suppose its balancing that against being able to use the timer myself.
The cobalt site doesn't go into great detail about the product.

Thanks for any help.

Terry

Well Ibby it's food for thought when the old boiler in our home goes, and hopefully that won't be me (smile.) But seriously it's very nice for a change that someone actually went to the bother of doing their homework so that Chris could benefit from the Cobolt timer. We all complain like hell when people don't deliver, so it's nice to hear someone went the extra mile.

Hi Jackie and Chris,
We had a new boiler approx a year ago and I myself purchased a Cobolt
talking time stat and whilst one of the leads are quite short, I had my stat mounted on a wall and the lead extended to the boiler by the electrician and
all works like a dream.

I must say Chris that's very impressive for an engineer to do that. Talk
about give credit where it's due.

Hello,

I had a new boiler for the central heating system
installed last Thursday, also using a grant from
Warm Front. The heating engineer who did the
assessment suggested putting in a mechanical
timer, as he said that I wouldn't get any help
from a digital timer. However, when they arrived
last Thursday, they brought the Cobolt talking
timestat with them - I hadn'ttold the engineer
about this product, so he must have done some good research.

The electrician removed the plug and socket from
the timer and connected it up permanently to the
boiler. It works well, but because the lead that
takes the current to the boiler is so short, the
timer has to stand on a worktop, which is not an ideal place for it.

Hope this helps.

Christopher

Hi all

I think this has been covered on here before, so apologies for repetition.

I had a quick look on Google, but didn't find anything. Is there such a
thing around?

We just had a new combi boiler installed, with a fancy new digital
thermostat control. My partner hates manuals, and I can't operate the
thermostat on my own.

Any help appreciated.

Also, I'm sure a lot of you may already be aware, but for those who are
not. We had the boiler fitted free of charge, which would have cost just
under £2500 if we would have had to of paid for it.

We applied to the warm front grant scheme, and the rest was easy.

The main eligibility for the grant is, certain benefits, e.g. dla, etc, and

you either own the property, or rent it privately. They will also carry
out insulation work.

Its worth knowing about, as we were about to spend £2500 of our own money.
It doesn't matter if you are working, as its not income related.

Best wishes.

Terry
