Just out of interest, I just hit the key stroke Fn and F3, and it launched Internet Explorer on this HP laptop! Turning the touchpad off clearly is a different keystroke, and must vary from manufacturer to manufacturer -

Hi John,

The only down side to this is that it turns off the left/right buttons as
well as the touch pad.  A quick Fn+F3 turns it back on though if you need
them.  It also doesn't remember the setting between boots.
