Mandy - Under Vista, go to control panel, type Volume in the search box, then tab past some quick launch links that are always at the top, then you should reach links for volume, including one to place or hide Speaker icon on the task bar; there is also a link for the actual volume -

Hi Negasliv, will that be the same in Vista?

No, it won't.
If you are on xp do the following:
1. Go to control panel/sounds and audio devices and press enter.
2. You should be on the volume tab. Tab to "Place volume icon in the
taskbar", check it and press enter.

Hi Mandy - I think if you reboot, it will become available for you again.

Subject: [access-uk] volume control in system tray

Hi,

I was trying to turn the volume down for Jaws in the system tray and I
seemed to have done something really strange. When I looked for the
volume
it was gone. My husband who is sighted said it is greyed out, what on
earth
have I done and how can I get the volume in the system tray back!

Thanks Mandy
