I think you'd want some sort of simple bearing -- a Teflon ring? -- at
the
bottom to make sure the axle stays roughly concentric with the tank.
I was thinking the same thing.
Putting a dimple in the back of the injector would be trivial, or centering
rings every n feet in the tank would be equally simple. Since we're talking
about a 10 rpm stirrer I think the engineering and fabrication requirements
are pretty forgiving.
