Things may have changed since 1980 but once we got a waiver to 100KFt the
FAA said the 'sky was the limit' in so many words.
They were only concerned about commercial air traffic.
The highest we went was 130KFt with a 5" nozzles rocket. This was the Smoke
Creek Desert just west of Black Rock and Gerlack.

That is crazy! Congratulations. I second Ben's question. How did FAR
manage that license?

It's been great to see all the videos of the launch, congrats to them
on the success and to FAR for hosting it. Is it the first space launch
from FAR? Did they get a launch license or was it under a level 3
waiver? Very impressive that they seemed to have GPS and telemetry
lock for the full ascent.

from the FAR test and launch facility. Right after the launch I drove to

final rocket for the competition. Also launched was a test rocket launch by
CSU Fullerton students for the ESRA IREC SAC competition. Lots happening in
the Mojave Desert.
