Hi Henry, what are you talking about? I'm not talking about the Rocket

My mistake -- I thought we were talking about practical ways of reaching
orbit, which invariably(*) begin by getting up out of the atmosphere
as quickly as possible, and thus inevitably involve the rocket equation.
(* For self-contained vehicles, anyway, disregarding things like space
elevators... )
Flying to orbit in the atmosphere is a wish-fulfillment fantasy for the
aviation crowd, not even remotely practical at this time. Hydrogen or no
hydrogen, at Mach 15, an oxygen atmosphere is not your friend.
