NASA SP-8124, "Liquid rocket engine self-cooled combustion chambers", talks about it. Ditto SP-8081, "Liquid propellant gas generators" -- gas generators for big engines are often closer in size to amateur-scale engines.

I don't know of a real design guide on it, perhaps because it's usually been treated as a supplement to regen or ablative cooling.

The Viking engine used in the first stages of Arianes 1 through 4 was film-cooled, but I don't think I've ever seen a detailed technical description. It was an N2O4/UDMH engine, and they tend to run a bit cooler than LOX-based designs, which probably helped. There are probably some papers on it in old conference proceedings and the like, but they would almost certainly be in French...
