I would like to clarify that using a decaying mining tunnel that was dug by
hand in the early 20th century as a vacuum testing sight was a shower
thought and a bad one at that. Getting all the equipment up there would be
quite something...

a rocket-ejector system to form a partial-vacuum environment (50,000 feet
equivalent is fairly reasonably achievable). FAR lead times tend to be
