A bit of a left field suggestion, but have you ever considered AP (ammonium
perchlorate) instead of KNO3? If you can’t buy it in India, you can make it
yourself – the PBO2 anodes are available everywhere these days. Only reason I
suggest that is we actually used an Indian publication as one of our primary
guides when we used to make it 20 years ago.
