Great stuff Rick. I hope your project succeeds. Post an update after the
test if you can.
In the early and mid 1990s I was part of Rockets For Schools in the Midwest.
As part of the program in the early years, several Super Lokis were launched
over Lake Michigan. I had the chance to touch and feel several of these
rockets. I was stuck by the small size of the whole package.
A number of us talked about recreating the Super Lokis. Truth is...
recreating the rocket was beyond typical amateur art in the early 1990s. Im
sure it is possible today.
Orbitec and a university made electronic payloads. I want to say University
of Wisconsin but Im not sure anymore. I think the electronics had a 100%
failure rate over a number of launches. Today I think the electronics are
basically COTS.
