Counting Lynda and me 27 birders were present for our annual Warbler Day
event today. The morning started off before dawn when I went outside and
heard a Barred Owl calling, then a few minutes later I heard a Great Horned
Owl hooting from beyond our neighbor's house across the valley. The Great
Horned was a new species for Warbler Day. I was very lucky to hear that one;
we don't often hear or see them in our immediate area.

We had a total of 65 species for the day including 13 warbler species, 5 of
which were Yellow-throated Warblers like this one. We had a lot of fun with
the birders and had great birds coming into the yard. During the first few
hours it seemed there were birds everywhere.

We counted 4 Hawk species, 2 owls, 5 woodpecker species and 5 vireo species.
