Absolutely correct, Miriam.
The Corporate Media counts on wearing us down by repeating outrageous
claims over and over, until we shrug and say, "Where there's smoke,
there must be fire." They did it with Martin Luther King, Jr., they
did it with Ralph Nader, they did it with Mohamed Ali, and back in
another world, they did it to Paul Robeson. Of course those folks,
and so many others, did not have a platform from which to defend
themselves. So we believed our Free Press. In fact, it was our Free
Press that told us over and over that they were our Free Press.
No matter what I hear or read, my first question is always, "who
benefits from this information?" The charge of plagiarism is a
crushing blow to an investigative journalist. I've wondered just when
and how the Empire would go after Chris Hedges. In many nations these
days, murder is the favorite method for silencing those who dare to
stand up and speak out.

For a change, Democracy Now had a really informative program today, all
about how the US has attempted to,and succeeded in interfering with the
elections of other countries. Stephen Kinzer was the guest, a historian
whose written several books on the subject and who like many others, was,
but is no longer, a New York Times reporter.
But as was pointed out on the Unauthorized Disclosure Podcast today,
Democracy Now has become, in most cases, the new MSNBC. And that comment

not meant as a compliment.
