This thing about China? It isn't just Trump of course. It started with Obama's
pivot to china and it continues on steroids under Biden because the US can't
stand that another country might threaten its financial supremacy over the
world. But I keep thinking about all those children whom Americans adopted from
China, starting in the early nineties. There was a big adoptive parents' group
which encouraged people to teach their children all about Chinese culture. They
had regular gatherings to celebrate holidays like the Chinese New Year. I
remember people traveling to Chinese neighborhoods in New York City to buy
authentic ingredients to cook Chinese meals. How are those adopted Chinese
children feeling right now? Many of them were taken to China to visit the
country of their birth. What is it like to suddenly see the place that you've
been taught to honor, now treated like an evil enemy?

It's as if the Empire is splitting apart at the seams.

Melanie returned to the house from a brief stint of shopping just now.
She reports having seen a group of about five cars with American flags
and anti China signs. In the past, she's reported only pro Trump signs.
