What a pity that most of the negative letters on this thread have been written
by people who haven't taken the course, and are assuming the worst, based on
rumors and very little factual information. The MOE is not the Wizard of Oz
behind the curtain! Write your suggestions and concerns to Judy Steiner instead
of griping to this list. A bit of respect due the position of Chief Inspector
goes a long way.

Amen to that, brother.

You have managed to articulate what I have been feeling for
some time now. And not just me but many English teachers
whom I meet have told me the same thing.

From what I have read here on the ETNI list, it seems the
the majority of teachers are apprehensive about the changes.
This apprehension is based on years of experience and not on
the fear of having to do extra work.

The question is what can be done. Do the powers-that-be read
the mails on this list? I assume that they do as there would
not be a need for posters to feel that they have to write
annonymously. I have had my own run-in with a particular
inspector following things that I wrote here. If they are
reading, then they should sit up and take notice. I already
know of one experienced teacher who will not be teaching any
more Bagrut classes as he doesn't think that it will be
worth his while once the changes are implemented.

From what I have been reading here and from the
conversations I have had with colleagues from different
schools, I really fear that we are heading towards a crisis
point in English teaching. The MOE should address this
before it is too late. The letters posted on this list are
the first sign.
