Anglos are tired of taking school violence lying down
Haaretz - August 26, 2005

Parents of bullied children complain of a 'boys will be boys' attitude from school staff
"Tripped, punched, kicked and beaten up" is the way that Elliott Cahan, a recent immigrant from Baltimore, describes the treatment his son received during his first year in Israel's public education system.
"We heard about violence in the school system and read about these kinds of problems in the newspaper, but we never expected it to be like this," he said this week.
Like other concerned parents, Cahan went to seek a solution with the administrators at his son's local elementary school in Modi'in. But he encountered, he says, a 'boys will be boys attitude' that didn't see bullying as much of a problem. "As an oleh, I am very concerned about my kids' future," he said. "There is a sink or swim mentality that I am just not used to."
And Cahan is not alone.
