Since kids need at least 4 pts to get into a college or university, I think that we should try to get the kids who are completing a full Bagrut certificate to aim for 4 points, at least. But the school needs to give at least 5 hours a week for English for the kids who would settle for three - or for those the school would settle at three, if they are to succeed at four. And the hours need to be in the morning. Unfortunately, often the lower levels get fewer hours and English is at the end of the day. I managed to negotiate 5 hours for such a class that I'm teaching this year, but I was in an unusual and unfamiliar position of strength for that discussion with the principals. However, all my hours with them are at the end of the day (13:00 and later) so I don't know how effective they'll be.
