Did you ever read a story to the class?
Or read one of your own, and ask them what they thought, how they thought
the story could be improved? I have done this with freshmen college kids
and they love it. Don't know if it will work with children, but I think all
children love an adult to read to them. A bonding experience shown through
your own enthusiasm while reading.
