One way I use to get students motivated to read is by giving them an extra
3% on their teuda for every extra book they read. For example, the class
should have read 2 books in the first semester. If the student reads 3 books
(and does an extra book report), she gets her extra 3%. It usually works (at
least for girls!)
In the past, I've had students' parents calling to ask what magic I worked
to get their daughter, who has seldom picked up a book in the past, to read.
Sometimes, a very significant proportion of their year grade is made up of
extra book report bonuses.
