Subject: ETAI Forum arrived today!

The Forum arrived today and "ignited" a whole chain of thoughts!

First of all - browsing through the Forum brought back the memories of
the summer conference. I always enjoy conferences but that one was
amazing! I've incorporated quite a few things from lectures there into
my lessons this year!

Which reminded me that some people wanted copies of pictures I use for
reading comprehension exercises, and I didn't have them in digital
form. I've begun putting them up here:
http://visualisingideas.edublogs.org/
I'm putting them up with the questions I created for them but you
might want to use the same pictures for different questions. I have
specific students in mind when I create the questions.

Then I decided to keep this copy of the Forum. I don't usually keep
them (I don't have room!) but I do keep a select few. While placing it
alongside the others I began wondering why I had decided to keep the
previous ones, wondering which articles had attracted my particular
attention. I started flipping through them, putting one down, berating
myself for looking at magazines instead of TYPING UP GRADES and then
picking up the next one.

That's when I came across a delightful article by Judy Yaron from
Winter 2005 called "Monkey Business in the Classroom" that just
described what I've been battling with all Chanuka week! I want to
look at magazines but should be typing up grades (I've finished
checking the exams), not to mention hanging up the laundry and so much
more! Judy calls it a list of "gottadooz".

So, maybe we should start a thread on David's ETNI BLOG about how you
all deal with your "gottadooz" list, balancing the incredible task of
being a good teacher and going the extra mile with leaving time for
your family and yourself. I know this is a "burning topic" for me!
