---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Esther Revivo <estherrv@xxxxxxxxxxx> Subject: Urgent re: Shabbaton keren and misc. Hello! I just discovered that I was misled by the Bank Ha'benleumi. (Thank you Esther Shenker; your e-mail got me thinking and ...)I called Bank Yahav (where I suggest ALL Min. of Ed. and other gov't employees move their accounts as you pay no 'amalote' (commision?) for almost anything other than an overdraft!! I have yet to enter a branch even once since my move 8 months ago; I handle all my affairs by phone and am very pleased with their service!) WELL, it turns out that we can move our keren hishtalmut from Bank Ha'benleumi to Bank Yahav or any other bank we so choose without forfeiting a penny or paying a fine! In Yahav you have the choice of one of two shabbaton funds: the first, as in the Bank Benleumi, is tied up with stocks and bonds. The second however is what they call 'solidi' which means that you get a set percentage of annual gain from your keren. True, if one is lucky, he can make a bundle on the market. However, I recently heard that someone in my family lost 1/2 million $ in the stock market debacle of 2009; he couldn't afford that loss and I can't afford one either! It's extremely late -- the banks yield their control over your Shabbaton funds in January so get busy like bees and check it out quickly!!! Take a look at your bank's yearly report and see how many hundreds of shekels you pay for every dang (yes that was dang and not the other rude word :) line that is printed to show you how much money your bank has wasted on the reams of paperwork they send you; etc. YES the initial move of all our 'ho'raote keva' was a royal pain to take care of, but after that, it's a joy to do business with them! (And no I am not getting paid for this ad nor do I have a sibling employed there!) BTW, I sent a long list of e-mail sites for projects to the forum but apparently it has to wait for David's return from abroad to be hooked up to a link. (Yes, I am Irgun, Yes I am a scab for doing projects.... you guessed it; many of my pupils are from Sederot and surrounding oft-rocketed areas.) NO I haven't begun teaching HOTS although I'm right in the midst of 'A Summer's Reading' sans HOTS and having my pupils keep all their work in a klasser. Should the Irgun sign a finalized agreement with the little issues such as more teaching hours and monetary recompense, I will have a 2 day marathon Eng. event in the summer, G-d willing, -- maybe with a barbeque-- to fill in the missing HOTS requirements. NO, once again, I am NOT speaking for the masses, only for my little ole self and giving a suggestion to other Irgun members: If your pupils keep all their literature in a separate klasser, it will be much easier to fill in the missing HOTS assignments/ tests without starting from scratch. Remember: AS OF NOW NO FINAL AGREEMENT HAS BEEN SIGNED SO HOLD OFF ON THE HOTS! Regarding making up the HOTS material, as they say in Hebrew, 'katan aleinu' in comparison with all the other hundreds of things we EFL folks do yearly without a word of thanks except from our dear colleagues on this forum! (Is it only me, or have you all noticed that not only are our incoming pupils lacking more and more basic general information; most of them seem to think that they deserve anything and everything we do for them without a 'please' or 'thank you?') Good luck to those of you with pupils doing the winter exams, and all the best to everyone here- Esther Revivo Ulpanat Tzvia Sedot Negev . ----------------------------------------------- ** Etni homepage - http://www.etni.org ** for help - ask@xxxxxxxx ** ** to post to this list - etni@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** -----------------------------------------------
