I sometimes feel the deaf and hard of hearing kids have the phones connected directly to their veins! One of the boys this morning (module A) understood he couldn't keep the cell phone on his desk but to turn it off?!! Horror of horrors! what if something reeeaaally important happened? In all fairness though cell phones have had a huge positive impact on people with a hearing loss... Anyway, the web is a-buzz with this topic now. Here's one link that links to many: http://cybraryman.com/cellphones.html In regards to getting a debate / discussion going on this topic, here's a link to an older post from the "tempered radical" - he has a way of getting the ball rolling: http://teacherleaders.typepad.com/the_tempered_radical/2011/03/using-cell-phones-in-schools.html He has quite a few posts on the topic. A word of warning: many teachers rave about using "poll everywhere " which lets the students use cell phones like clickers in a webinar or a game show. Last time I checked, "everywhere" didn't include Israel. http://www.polleverywhere.com/ Naomi Epstein -- Naomi Epstein "Shema" Counselor for Teaching English to Deaf and Hard of Hearing Students Hebrew Counseling Blog Professional Blog (English) Exercises for Students ************************************** ** Etni homepage - http://www.etni.org ** post to list - etni@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** help - ask@xxxxxxxx ** David Lloyd: ETNI founder & manager http://david.greenlloyd.com ***************************************
