I can understand ETAI's not wanting to get involved over HOTS which is a very controversial issue which could have brought into loggerheads with the Inspectorate. But here we are talking about funding programmes to train teachers. Without programmes such as these there soon won't be anyone who will be eligible to be a member of ETAI (ok slight exaggeration.) What harm would it have done if their spokesperson had said something to this effect in the article? Shabbat Shalom David From: Ruthi <rsheffer@xxxxxxxxx> Subject: Re: Ministries quarrel over cancellation of new immigrant teacher programs well we had much the same issue regarding the HOTS and whilst Etai would not pronounce they DID give us a forum by allowing the debate which was held at the summer conference, allowing us to openly air the issues on both sides. I can see their point on wishing to remain neutral, however pretty much every issue which we all care about is a Political issue. So doesn't this mean that Etai is becoming redundant? After all, many things we wish to discuss are not purely pedagogical any more. Ruth Phil wrote: >> "Great. Why do we pay our dues to an impotent organisation? >> This is not a political issue.
